Art direction for the band One Republic's music video titled 'Invincible'. The concept of the shoot surrounds a retired monster-type creature, like 'Godzilla', going about his now quiet life in the suburbs of Tokyo. In Japanese this kind of creature is called a Kaiju and we meet this "monster" on his birthday as he now clearly is past the prime of his life. The central character was brought to life through the highly skilled costume designer and allowed for some interesting real life interactions with the Japanese public.
Alongside Sam Rhodes, design director, we produced some bespoke props that act as memorabilia from the Kaiju's past destroying Japanese cities. This includes a Ukiyo-E woodblock print, a ink drawing Japanese scroll, newspaper articles as well as aged wanted posters describing our now cute character.
